Riverview Church building in Evans, GA

Our Story

Where It All Began

Riverview Church was founded in 1948 by a small group of families gathered in the yard  located in Evans, Georgia with a simple conviction: that authentic community and genuine faith could change lives. What began with a handful of people has grown into a congregation of 160. "Praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved" (Acts 2:47, ESV).

Our Values

What Shapes Us

Abide in Christ

We pursue Christ above all else, knowing that lasting fruit comes from abiding in Him.

Connect in Community

We build Christ-centered relationships that encourage spiritual growth, unity, and love.

Transform Through the Gospel

We believe the Gospel transforms lives and equips us to become faithful followers of Christ.

Serve with Purpose

We serve God and others with humility, generosity, and a heart to make disciples.

What We Believe

Our Core Beliefs

Scripture

We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God. It is completely trustworthy and is our final authority for faith, doctrine, and daily living. "All Scripture is inspired by God, and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3: 16-17, ESV).

Grace

We believe that salvation is a gift of God's grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Because we have been shown undeserved mercy, we seek to extend that same grace to others with humility, forgiveness, and love. Grace transforms our hearts, shapes our relationships, and empowers us to live for God's glory.. "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9, ESV).

Biblical Community

From Genesis to Revelation, God calls His people to live in relationship with Him and with one another. "And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved" (Acts 2:42-47, ESV).

Mission

The church's primary mission is to make disciples: worshipers of God who follow and  trust Jesus Christ, are baptized, and learn to obey and know His Word. "And Jesus came and said to them, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:18-20, ESV).

Worship

We believe that worship is our wholehearted response to the greatness and goodness of God. Worship is more than singing songs, it is a life surrendered to Jesus Christ. As we gather, we worship God through prayer, the preaching of His Word, singing, giving, serving, and celebrating the ordinances of baptism and the Lord's supper. As we scatter, we continue to worship by living lives of obedience, holiness, and love that bring glory to Christ. Our desire is that everything we do points people to Jesus and honors Him as Lord. "But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth" (John 4:23-24, ESV).

Prayer

We believe that prayer is a privilege and a gift from God, made possible through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Prayer is our ongoing conversation with our Heavenly Father: an expression of worship, dependence, thanksgiving, confession, and faith. Through prayer, we seek God's will, trust His promises, intercede for others, and draw near to Him. We believe God hears the prayers of His people and faithfully answers according to His perfect wisdom, timing, and will. As a church, we are committed to being a people of prayer, knowing that apart from Christ we can do nothing.  "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7, ESV).
